I&M Seeks to Amend Tariff for Large Energy Users
Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M) has filed a petition with the Commission seeking approval for modifications to its Industrial Power Tariff (Tariff IP). The proposed changes aim to better accommodate large load customers whose demands exceed or are expected to exceed 150 MW.
AES Indiana Proposing Coal to Gas Conversion at Petersburg
AES Indiana has announced plans to transition Petersburg Units 3 & 4 from coal to natural gas. If approved by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), AES Indiana would be on a path to be the first investor-owned electric utility to stop burning coal.
Commentary: Local officials are obstructing the energy transition. It’s time to change their role.
It seems that once a week I come across an article about the passage of some new restriction by local officials relating to wind or solar development. This week it was a Commissioners. The new ordinance replaces a moratorium on large-scale solar facilities which has been in place since 2019 following the approval of the Lone Oak solar project.
Settlement Reached in AES Indiana Rate Case
A settlement has been reached in AES Indiana’s request for a $134.2 million rate increase. The agreement between all parties outlines a rate increase that is roughly half what the utility requested in June. If the Commission approves the settlement, AES Indiana will be allowed to increase its operating revenue by $73.1 million (4.6%).
